Collaborating to fight fear and disinformation in

Yuma County 

Public health professionals play a crucial role in keeping their communities healthy and safe. However, during the pandemic fear and frustration over shutdowns, masking, and vaccine access, combined with a flood of misinformation, led many in Yuma, Arizona, to feel unsure about how to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19. The Yuma County Public Health Department took this problem on by forging creative partnerships to ensure its residents and essential workers got tested, treated and vaccinated. By working with trusted messengers, they were able to successfully address community concerns and build a robust response to the COVID crisis.
